We decided to profile one fandoo every month on this page, for that will give us a chance to know him, his job his ideas better.We will randomly choose one fandoo every month and then the chosen one will send a brief write up about himself which will be uploaded here.

Also, there is a section called 'What my buddies have to say about me', where other fandoos will write couple of lines about the 'Fandoo Of the Month'.

How about profiling 'Fandoo' aka DEVASHISH PATI as the 'Fandoo of the Month' in the maiden issue of this column ? Yeah Guys, We approached him and though he was down with fever he was quick enough to give us the neccessary details and the photographs.Thanks Fandoo for the same.So buddies, here you go.....

MY CAREER PROFILE: My career profile has unexpectedly been quite prolific. Straightaway started working for a MNC client settled in OHIO, US and was onsite too for 4 months for training and support. For that matter have had 3 major assignments so far and all 3 of them have been MNC clients with a widespread International presence, the best one so far being AT Kearney(California and Chicago) who are into Global Resourcing and Consulting.

My present job is at Orange UK where in I am a representative of ITS India as a technical co-ordinator as well as a business analyst. Love this job as allows me all the freedom-- to talk!!! (a habit which my friends often used to get bored with, but then I have always enjoyed it because I love it!!)

I was in a miserable state as I entered the world of Softwares, everything seemed to be so strange, but then I put my foot down saying that I would not allow myself to be at the bottommost rung of the ladder and I started climbing, slowly yet surely.

MY SKILL SET: My present skill set expands from Unix on the distributed side to Servlets on the Web side with some junk programming languages that I had to work with during the initial few months of my career with IT Solutions. I am still continuing with IT Solutions though people who joined after me have already set out for greener pastures!!! I somehow stayed back, don't know how did I manage to continue so far!!

MY HIGH POINT IN CAREER (till date):Talking about a high point in career, well, as of now the highest point would have been a role that I am playing here now with lots of responsibility and being answerable to the clients for anything and everything- a situation very demanding and very challenging.

I really am of an exhorting type ( my friends named me as 'fandoo' for this quality of distributing free advice !!)

MY LIFE IN CAMPUS: I entered college as a novice, ignorant, unprocessed I should say, unprepared to talk on the battle of life. Had just descended from Indian Airlines and thought life would be as smooth as the flight journey.

Life unfolded itself slowly with a grace as I learnt to make steady friends, laugh and cry with them. I was very quite though, till one of them caught hold of me and shook me up ( my best pal till today has been him)

Learnt more about the outer world more than the subjects required to clear the semesters, still managed to score decently!!.

Life in college indeed had its own charm, with a gamut of faces all around, some known, some unknown.

My life in college wasn't very effervescent barring the fact that I sometimes used to exercise my vocal chords at someone's b'day, at a farewell party etc.

Indeed there were moments which were painful as we departed after having shared emotions for 4 years, having grown seeing each other in and out.


MY FIRST JOB AND THE STRRUGGLE(If Any): My first job was a real struggle, a struggle I remember to this day. Can never forget those days in a small ramshackled but cosy lodge (RUBIN HOUSE) in Bangalore. I used to be there with a lot of hopes of getting into softwares, leading a high profile life.

Being from a non-computer background ( I still remember the words that my best pal said to me- fandoo..mechanical chhod ke computer science le le..roti to tujhe yeh dabba hi dega..very true..I am a senior software engineer today sitting onsite doing some business analysis!!)

Had to work very hard during the first few months of my software life as I was new to everything!!. I put in all that I had and was promoted to a higher grade very soon much to the discomfort of some of my colleagues who were still eyeing upon being promoted. Well, all that happens everywhere then, doesn't it?

Settled down quickly to understand the nuances of development and management slowly and was exposed to the outer world - was sent to US in 1999 and am back again in UK in 2000.
